Over 100 of the best athletes in New Mexico participated in the Southwest Showcase Football Combine at 8 Gradys Performance Center. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the event a huge success.
Estevan is a New Mexican native, born and raised in Albuquerque. He is the Performance Director at 8 Gradys Performance Center where he overseas training, marketing, sales and administration. He has over ten years experience working with athletes over many genres of sport and ranging from the youth to professional setting. As an athlete he earned scholarships to NMMI and Fort Lewis college where he played football and he currently holds a BA in Psychology from Fort Lewis College and an MBA from University of the Southwest in marketing and sports administration. He is a Certified Functional Strength Coach, and Performance Enhancement Specialist. His current pursuit is to give back to the community he was brought up in and provide adults and athletes alike the opportunity to realize their potential in any aim they wish to pursue.
Cameron A. Padilla is a 25 year old local strength and conditioning coach who played college football at the University of New Mexico for two years and played a year up in Colorado at Fort Lewis College. He graduated with his Exercise Science degree from UNM and is currently half way done with completing his CSCS certification. His experience comes from years and dedication in the weight room and classroom learning and soaking up as much as he could from coaches, players and as a student in the classroom and on the field. Along with the two years as the head strength and conditioning coach for Training For Warriors ABQ and the past year and a half that he has been with the 8 Gradys Sports Performance family. He truly loves working with athletes and people alike who want to become the best versions of themselves physically and mentally!
Erik Cook is a local retired NFL athlete that has over 18 years of football experience. He brings a vast amount of knowledge and understanding of the game of football. Specializing in being an offensive lineman, Erik is ready to pass on what he has learned throughout his career.
Erik grew up in Albuquerque where he attended Cibola High School. He was a two year starter for the Cougars and a multi-sport athlete, participating in wrestling and track and field. He then was awarded a full ride scholarship to the University of New Mexico where he was a four year starter and one of the top offensive lineman in New Mexico history. He ended his career at UNM earning the Bill Brannin most valuable player award and the Reese Hill most valuable offensive player award. He was drafted by the Washington Redskins in 2010, played two seasons with the Redskins, and went through training camp with the New York Jets.
Erik’s coaching will focus on offensive and defensive lineman and will cover everything from basic group fundamentals to specific, individualized technical work. Erik’s coaching philosophy is to provide the opportunity for athletes to achieve their full potential through the sport while stressing the importance of accountability, responsibility, sportsmanship, and discipline.

Carl Bruere has been training aspiring young football players for the past eight years through his Air Bruere program. The former Head Coach of S.W.A.T has developed a unique football experience for the youth of New Mexico. What makes Coach Bruere different? The answer is his football philosophy is centered around developing whole athletes. Under his program athletes learn to not only, enhance the physical aspects of the game but the mental aspects as well. Coach Bruere approaches the game of football in a manner that emphasis individualism and providing an experience, which is catered to the athlete’s age, ability, position, and knowledge of the game. Under his guidance, many young athletes have reached milestones in their football ability and personal growth.
Coach Bruere not only puts on clinics himself, but also has worked with and attended clinics of some of the most respected coaches in the country. He was a pivotal part of successful high school programs in the state of New Mexico. He served as the Offensive Coordinator for the highly regarded Rio Rancho High School from 2008-2017 and was the wide receivers coach during the 2006-2008 seasons. He also spent three seasons coaching at Cibola High School.
As a former player at every level, Coach Bruere not only has the coaching experience needed to develop young players but also encompasses the player perspective.

Lee McKinley, the former Defensive Coach at S.W.A.T has joined Coach Bruere at the Fieldhouse bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the defensive end of position specific training. Coach Lee’s philosophy on individual training coincides with the mission of Air Bruere.
Coach Lee was a member of the Rio Rancho High School Staff from 2011 thru 2017. During that time, he was both a defensive coordinator and a defensive backs coach. Coach Lee was part of 4 district title teams and 2 state title teams. Coach Lee began coaching in young American football (YAFL), in 2008 thru 2011, where he was a defensive coordinator for 2 Super Bowl winning teams and 1 Super Bowl runner up.
Coach Lee also possess a valuable amount of playing experience which incudes playing high school football at Canyon Springs High School in Moreno Valley, California. He was a two time First Team All State Defensive Back. At the completion of his high school career Coach Lee was awarded a full student athletic scholarship to attend the University of New Mexico, where he played from 1990 through 1993. During his time at UNM, he earned Honorable Mention award his junior year and Second Team all WAC his senior year as a Defensive Back. Coach Lee completed his playing career with two seasons in the Canadian Football League.
